"فاصلة بين جحيمين" هو العنوان الذي اختارته "نهلة محمد" لمجموعتها القصصية الأولى، معتمدة على لغة شفافة وشاعرية هادئة، قاصدة أن يشاركها القارئ ذات الإحساس بالتوجع على شخصياتها، ولكن برغبة أيضاً في الركون إلى هدأة الحكي الآسر ببناء سردي محكم يسحب المتلقي من وضعه العادي إلى حيث المشاركة الوجدانية.
تتناول المجموعة قصصاً من واقع الحياة تتنوع في أحداثها ومضامينها وتقنياتها السردية إلا أنها جميعها تحاكي عذابات الإنسان، وخصوصاً المرأة بشاعرية مفرطة معبرة عن حال الإنسانية بصور بيانية تارة ودلالية تارة في صياغة أشبه بقصيدة بما تحتويه من ألفاظ رقيقة وشاعرية. تحت عنوان (مشرط) نقرأ:" فتحت لقلبه أدراجها المعبأة بالإنسان في محاولة لإقناعه بأحلامها، فوافق على مض، علّها تعينه على شيطانة بحفنة نسيان.
ذات ليلة، تتبع صمت سماعة القلب خاصتها، أضاء ريبةً صندوق الأشعة في مكتبها، نفض زيها الأبيض مراراً، ومن خلف الأستار، تسللت إلى غيرته تأوهات خشنة، فباغتها بمشرطٍ قريب، والوتر في الجرح يلعنه...".
يضم العمل ما يزيد عن أربعون قصة قصيرة جاءت بعناوين مختلفة نذكر منها: صوتي يتسلل من المسرح، تسجيل خروج، أحلام بلا أقدام، خارج أسوار دفتر، على هامش جرح وغيرها...

وجدت نفسها أمام قدمٍ عابثة ملزمة وأنا بهول الفزع وحدها و أنا بالخيبة والضعف ذاته، وددت لو أن أمي على الطرف البعيد من رقم .. على الأقل كنت سأخبرها كم مرةٍ نويت فيها لفّ الحجاب على عنقي، وباكتئاب البائسين كم مرة تدليت في قبري وأنا أسلّم للمروحة أمر الحكم في يأسي، وكيف عدت أدراج الرضا قانعة بقسمة الله…
أنا التي أخجل من استقبال القبلة وحجابي مقلوبٌ في حضرته.
