كثيرة هي الدراسات التي تناولت الغزالي أو كانط، وناقشت الجوانب المختلفة لفلسفتيهما، بين الكتب والدراسات الأكاديمية، والأبحاث المصغرة، وقد شملت معظم جوانبهما، إن بصورة مستقلة، أو في سياق الدراسة الفلسفية بصورة عامة. كثيرة كذلك هي الدراسات التي عنيت بالمقارنة بين كل من الغزالي أو كانط مع غيرهما من الفلاسفة.
في العديد من الموضوعات التي ستؤثرها الدراسة التي بين أيدينا في سياق فصولها ومباحثها، إن كان على مستوى بعض القضايا الجزئية في سياق بعض الدراسات الفلسفية، أعلى مستوى الأبحاث الأكاديمية المتخصصة العربية منها والأجنبية. ولكن هذه الدراسة باعتقادنا أول دراسة أكاديمية تعقد للمقارنة بين الغزالي وكانط بهذه الصورة، وفي أهم ما يميز فلسفة كل منهما، ونعني به الطبيعة النقدية لفلسفتيهما بصدد المعرفة ومناجمها بصورة عامة، أو المدقق النقدي من الميتافيزيقا، وجهود العقل في معالجة قضاياها بصورة خاصة.
وبعبارة أخرى، إن هذه الدراسة تحاول أن تبحث في طبيعة الإجابات المتعددة عن السؤال؟ هل المعرفة ممكنة؟ وماذا يمكنني أن أعرف؟ وهو السؤال الذي جاء بمثابة الدعوة المراجعة وتقديم قدرات الإنسان في المعرفة، وإمكانية الحصول عليها، وما الذي يمكن للإنسان معرفته من الموضوعات.
