وقد تم توضيح عوامل النجاح الحرجة من حيث المفهوم, وتطور وتطبيق طريقة عوامل النجاح الحرجة وتطبيقها خارج مجال نظم المعلومات الادارية فضلاً عن مصادرعوامل النجاح الحرجة ونقاط القوة والضعف فيها وكيفية تطبيقها لتخطيط نظم المعلومات وتحليل احتياجها واستخدامها لتخطيط مورد المعلومات ووظيفة المعلومات والخطوط الموجهه لاستخدام طريقة عوامل النجاح الحرجة.
كما تم التطرق الى موضوع الاطارالعام للتحليل الاستراتيجي من حيث أهمية تحليله في اطار تحليل البيئة الخارجية والبيئة الداخلية وما تتضمن كل من البيئتين من فرص وتهديدات ونقاط قوة وضعف وتوضيح الرؤيا الاستراتيجية حول تحليل (SWOT ) ومدى علاقة نظام المعلومات الاسراتيجية بالتحليل الاستراتيجي.
وعرض المؤلف في هذا الكتاب لماهية المزايا التنافسية وكيفية تعزيزها والمقدرات الجوهرية وكذلك المزايا التنافسية المعاصرة بالاضافة الى الحديث عن نظم المعلومات الاسراتيجية والمزايا التنافسية من حيث مدى العلاقة بينهما وكذلك ضرورات نظم المعلومات الاستراتيجية في حياة منظمات الأعمال والأدوار الاستراتيجية لنظم المعلومات الاستراتيجية ونطاق ومحيط استراتيجيات نظم المعلومات وتكنولوجيا المعلومات, والتطبيقات الاستراتيجية لنظم المعلومات.
