إن حركة تعليم التفكير تعد من الحركات التربوية الحديثة والنشطة في المنطقة العربية ،ويأتي الاهتمام بها بناء على ما أحرزته نتائجها في دول العالم المتقدم،حيث تبين أنه بقدر ما يجري العمل على تعليم الطلبة وإعدادهم كمفكرين جيدين،بقدر ما ينعكس هذا عليهم في مجال العمل وأداء دورهم كمنتجين جيدين ،مما يسهم في تنمية وتطور مجتمعاتهم. إن هذا الكتاب يوضح مفهوم "تعليم التفكير" بأبعاده المختلفة،ومجالات استخداماته في المدرسة العادية ،بالإضافة إلى المرتكزات الأساسية التي يعتمد عليها نجاح تعليم التفكير ،وكيفية توظيف مهارات التفكير المتنوعة في المنهج المدرسي،بما يساعد الطلبة على الانتقال من دور استقبال المعرفة إلى دور المنتج لها.
يتضمن الكتاب سبعة أبواب متدرجة في العرض، ابتداء من التطور التاريخي لحركة تعليم التفكير ،مرورا بالمفاهيم والعوامل والقضايا المرادفة للموضوع، واستيطانا موسعا ما بين النظرية والتطبيق في معظم الأبواب بما يرشد المعلم إلى كيفية استخدام مهارات التفكير في المنهج المدرسي والمزج بينها وبين التدريب على مهارات البحث العلمي ،كذلك المناظرة ما بين تعليم التفكير في المنهج المدرسي ،وتعليمه كمنهج مستقل ،ممثلا في نموذج تعليم التفكير الناقد.
إن هذا العمل محاولة متواضعة للإسهام في تحفيز أداء المدرسة في الوقت الذي نواجه فيه عالما سريع التغير والتطور،وفي مجتمعنا الخاص سريع التفكير والتطور أيضا ولا ندري كم هو مدى تقدير الاهمية بضرورة الإسراع في "تعليم التفكير "للطلبة في المدارس بشكل مقصود ومباشر ،كمناهج تعليمية خاصة ،وهل التفكير الجيد وحده يكفي لرفاه المجتمع؟ام أن هذا يستدعي تعليم "القيم+الصحة+ التفكير" في برامج تعليمية مكثفة ،محكمة التنفيذ،دائمة التجدد وغنية بالجديد؟.
