من الكتب المخطوطة، التي تتعلق بجزئية من علم الطب، رسالة في الفصد، من تصنيف الشيخ الرئيس أبي علي، الحسين بن عبد الله بن سينا، المتوفى في سنة 428هـ.
والمعلوم أن تعاني صناعة الفصد في الطب، بوصفها دواء لأمراض عديدة، كانت المرضى تلجأ إليه قبل ميلاد السيد المسيح عليه السلام، ولا تزال في بعض الأحيان وفي بعض الأماكن في عصرنا هذا، حيث نجد عند مطالعة الكتب التي تؤرخ للعلوم الطبية عناوين كتب طبية كثيرة، تتحدث عمليتي الفصد والحجامة، فقد وجدنا كتاباً لجالينوس (قيل إنه ولد قبل المسيح بتسع وخمسين سنة، وقيل بعده بمئتي سنة) يحمل عنوان: كتاب الفصد، ووجدنا الأطباء العرب يشيرون في ذلك إلى ما قاله جالينوس في هذا الشأن، كما نسبوا لأبقراط قوله: "الجسد يعالج جملة من خمسة أضرب، ما في الرأس بالغرغرة، وما في المعدة بالقيء، وما في البدن بإسهال البطن، وما بين الجلدين بالعرق، وما في العمق وداخل الرأس بالغرغرة، وما في العمق وداخل العروق بإرسال الدم".
والمقصود بعبارة "إرسال الدم" إخراجه بطريقي الفصد والحجامة، وجاء في مخطوط: "عقيلة العقلاء في علم الفصد من الفضلاء": "أنّ جالينوس حكى عن أرسطو وأبقورس وأسقليبادس أنهم كانوا يمنعون من خروج الدم بالفصد شحاً عليه، وأن أبقراط وجالينوس كانا يريان خروج الدم بالفصد من العروق".
من كل ما سبق ذكره يمكننا أن نضيف أن هذه الرسالة، وعلى الرغم من تقدم الطب وتطوره، وقطعه أشواطاً كبيرة نحو الرقي، مما يجعل الإستشفاء عن طريق الفصد يتقهقر ويكاد يندثر، تعطينا فكرة، وإن كانت بسيطة، عن تاريخ الطب، في القرن الخامس الهجري، وكيف إستطاع الأطباء المسلمون إستيعاب الطب اليوناني مع بدايات ترجمة كتبهم، وتمكنوا من تطوير وسائل الإستطباب وصناعة الأدوية.
لذلك، نرى أن تقديم هذه الرسالة بعد إحيائها ونشرها محققة من الأهمية بمكان.
