كتاب "معالم العلماء" يحتوي على فهرست كتب الشيعة وأسماء المصنفين منهم قديماً وحديثاً، ألفه الشيخ الإمام محمد بن علي ابن شهر آشوب المازبداني السروي، وهو تتمة لكتاب (الفهرست) للشيخ ابي جعفر الطوسي اختصره الإمام المازندراني وزاد فيه نحواً من ستماية مصنف. وأشار إلى المحذوف من كتابه، وإن كانت الكتب لا تعدو ولا تحد ثم أعقبه بأسماء شعراء أهل البيت رضي الله عنهم المعروفين منهم. عدَة علماء الإسلام: من المدارك المهمة لعلماء الرجال أمثال العلامة الحلي والمير مصطفى التفريش وآخرون أوردوا جميع ما في "معالم العلماء" في مؤلفاتهم الرجالية، وفيه أبواب وفصول بحسب الترتيب الألفبائي.
