نظراً لأهمية كتاب الحصن الحصين، في الأذكار الواردة عن سيد المرسلين، فقد عمد الإمام الشوكاني إلى تحسينه والاعتناء به إذ أنه قام في كتابه هذا في بيان درجة الأحاديث المروية فيه، تحسيناً أو تصحيحاً أو تضعيفاً، ضيافاً إلى التصحيح والتنقيح فائدة جليلة، هي أنه يذكر ألفاظ الحديث إذا كان له ألفاظ مورداً ما يطابق معنى ذلك الحديث من الأحاديث. بالإضافة إلى ذلك فقد عمد الإمام الشوكاني في كتابه هذا إلى شرح أحاديث الحصن الحصين بما تقتضيه الألفاظ والمعاني، مبيناً ما ورد في الحديث من فوائد وفرائد لم يتعرض إليها شارحاً قبله.
