في هذا الكتاب، قصائد عديدة، تهيم في فضاءات شفيفة ضمن ما يسمى شعرية اللحظات أو الخاطر الشعري، الذي يخرج من تلك الذات المبدعة وهالتها باتجاه مدارات أخرى تتراوح بين التأمل، والألم، فنقرأ جمل شعرية مكثفة ونحن بين أنين القصب وانتخابات الفخار، حين يبدو لنا "محمود النمر" شاعر يدرك غرثه بحساسية تصل أحياناً إلى غنائية مصابة بالوجه الجنوبي الذي يعزف على ناي الموت، مثل كل الذين عاشوا الحزن العراقي منذ بدء الخليفة وإلى أخر جنين ينتظره الشقاء.
يقول الشاعر محمود النمر عن عمله هذا: "...أن المجموعة الشعرية تروي قصة الإنسان، في بداياته الذي ينتمي لهذا العالم المسكون بالألم والعوز والريبة(...) وإن قصائد المجموعة تتنوع في منحدرات اللغة، وتنحاز أحياناً إلى السهل الممتنع أو طرح أسئلة كونية تكاد تخاصم الوجود تكون ثيمة خاصة بالشاعر الذي هو صوت غائب وحاضر في لحظة واحدة.
تحت عنوان (عناكب من رمل) يقول الشاعر: سيدوري.../ هذا صاحبي/ يتخذ الخمرة للشك/ ويعدو خلف كلاب الصيد/ أحرق كل خيوط الود/ أخرس سطوتك الخضراء/ بنار الحقد/ ..../ كلكامش كان غيوراً/ وأنت تصبين وقارك خمراً قبل الفجر..."
من عناوين القصائد نذكر: "لاعب الشطرنج الأحمر"، "انفلاونزا التمور"، تاج من ريش"، صفات سيدوري" إلخ..
