"كثيراً ما يسألوني: ما هي الطريقة العملية، لتحقيق الوحدة العربية؟ وفي بعض الأحيان، يستهلون هذا السؤال بمقدمة قصيرة: أنت تتكلم عن القومية العربية، وتدعو إلى الوحدة، ولكنك لا تقول لنا: ما هي الوسائل العملية لتحقيق هذه الوحدة؟ وأما أنا، فأقول لهؤلاء على الدوام: إني أعتقد أن أول ما يجب عمله لتحقيق الوحدة العربية -في الأحوال الحاضرة- هو إيقاظ الشعور بالقومية العربية، وبث الإيمان بوحدة هذه الأمة... عندما يستيقظ هذا الشعور تماماً اليقظة، وعندما ينتشر هذا الإيمان ويرسخ في النفوس تمام الرسوخ... تتوضح السبل، وتتمهد الطرق، أمام الوحدة العربية... وتزول العقبات وتنهار العوائق التي تعترضها... بكل سهولة... ولكن... إذا بقي الشعور بالقومية العربية على ما هو عليه من الضآلة... والإيمان بوحدة الأمة العربية، على ما هو عليه من الضعف... وتبدو أنفة العوائق وتنهار العزائم أمام أصغر المشاكل... ولذلك أنا أسعى على الدوام، وراء إيقاظ الشعور بالقومية العربية، وبث الإيمان بوحدة الأمة العربية. ولقد كتبت الصحائف التالية، خلال هذا الصيف، بهذا الاعتقاد، ولهذا الغرض". وبهذه الكلمات قدم "أبو خلدون ساطع الحصري" لمتن كتابه هذا والذي يمثل سجلاً لبعض ما كتبه في مقالات وتعليقات وإلقاء من محاضرات في موضوع القومية والعروبة والوحدة العربية...
