هو بحث فقهي فيما أحدثه الناس في يوم عاشوراء من بدع مجهولة المصدر، تسهم في إيقاد نار الفتنة بين المسلمين. فقد عرض الباحث لآراء بعض كبار رجال الفقه في ما يرافق عاشوراء من عادات تناقض الشرع وتهدد وحدة الأمة. فيرى الكثيرون من علماء المسلمين ما مفاده أن الشيطان الرجيم قد أحدث بسبب قتل الحسين بدعتين: الأولى الحزن واللطم والصراخ والنحيب... وما يرافق ذلك من سب السلف ولعنهم، وإدخال البرئ مع المذنب، وتلفيق أخبار مهيجة للفتن.. والثانية بدعة السرور والفرح واتخاذ هذا اليوم عيداً لتبس ثياب الزينة ويوسع فيه على العيال، فكل هذا من البدع المكروهة.
وقد حشد الباحث في الكراس طائفة من الشواهد والأقوال –قديمها وحديثها- تؤكد خروج البدعتين المتناقضتين في نظرهما إلى عاشوراء عن روح الإسلام وخطرهما معاً على وحدة المسلمين، والنفخ في نار الفتنة.
