في البداية تدويني لبعض أحداث هذا الكتاب مما لم يكن مقرراً لها أن تنشر، ولكنها كانت مجرد هموم وخواطر كتبتها لأخفف بها ما حدث، وفي الوقت نفسه لأوثق تلك الأحداث التي وقعت لي أو لبعض الأشخاص ممن أعرفهم أو يهمني أمرهم وفي إحدى المناقشات مع رفيقة دربي قالت، ألاحظك تكتب دائماً وتحاول أن تتذكر معنا بعض الإحداث والذكريات التي وقعت لنا خلال بعثتي (إيفادي) للولايات المتحدة الأمريكية ،فهل لكتاباتك علاقة بذلك... قلت لها الأمر لا يخلو من ذلك، قالت: أذن أنت تفكر في كتابة تلك الأحداث وتدوينها لننشرها قي كتاب، فأجابتها بأنني في الواقع لم أفكر في نشر تلك الوقائع، فاغلبها أحداث شخصية وعائلية، ولكن لعلها فكرة يجب أن أدرسها بجدية وأفكر فيها ملياً، وهنا تبلورت الفكرة، وقلت في نفسي: لعلي أقوم بسرد أحداث وقصص محزنة ومفرحة حصلت لي ولعائلتي خلال بعثتي التي صاحبت أحداث 11 سبتمبر وكذلك أطروحات لكتاب شرقيين وغربيين ومقتطفات من أقوال بعض الصحفيين وما قدمته وسائل الإعلام .
