في هذا الكتاب فهرسة للأحاديث والآثار الذي احتواها كتاب "المصنف في الحديث" لأبي بكر عبد الرزاق بن همام الصنعاني". وهدفه من تدوينه تيسير البحث على كل من يعلم قيمة الوقت في حياة طالب العلم الشريف. وحتى يكون الكتاب ميسراً موفياً بالغرض المطلوب منه وجد الباحث أنه لا بد أن يحتوي على جميع الأحاديث والآثار والفتاوى القولية والفعلية، وأن يتم ترتيبها حسب حروف المعجم أولاً ثم ترتيب روايات كل راوٍ على حدة حسب حروف المعجم أيضاً، معتمداً الطبعة الني نشرها المجلس العلمي (الهند) أساساً في جمع مادة فهرسه. وإتماماً لفائدة هذا الفهرس ألحق الباحث كتابه بمقدمة دوّن فيها ترجمة لصاحب المصنف "أبي بكر عبد الرزاق بن همّام الصنعاني".
وبالرجوع إلى الخطة التي اعتمدها في فهرسة الكتاب نجد أنها تتجلى بـ: أولاً: ثبت طرف الحديث أو الأثر سواءً كان قولياً أو فعلياً. ثانياً: عني بتجزئة الأحاديث التي اشتملت على عدة أحكام حسب أبواب الفقه وما فيها من الأحكام. ثالثاً: أثبت اسم راوي الحديث أو الأثر بعد طرقه، وأيضاً اسم الكتاب الذي ورد فيه ورقم الحديث والجزء على الصفحة. خامساً: أسقط اعتبار "أل" التعريف من أول متن الحديث والأثر واعتبرها في بقية المتن. سادساً: اعتبر الألف المقصورة "ى" ألفاً ورتبها بعد الممدودة لأنها الأصل.
