تركني في هذا الفراغ السحيق كهوّة بئر يسقط فيها المرء ولا يصل إلى القاع، لقد تركني في دوّامة من الرعب، شعرت أنّ ثمة عيوناً تفتح من تحت الأرض تراقبني، كان كل شيء يتحرّك من حولي.
كان الأصوات تنبعث من كلّ مكان، أصبحتُ وحيداً بين تلك الوهاد والحفر المظلمة، لقد تحوّلت تلك الخفافيش إلى جثثٍ معلّقةٍ مرعبة.
لم يكن أمامي سوق الإنطلاق نحو ذلك الضوء الخافت البعيد، لم أشعر بقدميّ من شدة الخوف، كنت أعدو عدواً وأسقط عدّة مرّات لكنّي أواصل المسيرة، أتوقّف قليلاً لتأمّل كل حجرٍ تدمى عليه قدمي، كم عوت الذئاب المعربدة على ضفّة الوادي وأنا أهدهد جمرة الخوف بالآيات القرآنية والدموع!... لم أكن أشعر أنّي اقترب من الضوء لكنّي ما زلت أمشي وأمشي...
