شهدت العقود الأخيرة من القرن العشرين تنامياً كبيراً في الدراسات النقدية واللغوية، وقد ظهر هذا التنامي في كثرة النظريات التي انتثقت عنها دراسات كثيرة في المجالين:النظري والتطبيقي في النقد واللغة.
يعتمد المؤلف في كتابه هذا على منهج تكاملي في النقد والتحليل اللغوي والمقصود بالتحليل اللغوي التحليل الذي تكون اللغة فيه خادمة للنظر النقدي ،فتكون اللغة أداته، والأدب وعاءه، والنقد غايته.
ويرى المؤلف أن كلّ واحدة من النظريات اللغوية يمكن أن تمثّل منزلة من منازل الرؤية النقدية، ولكنها ليست وحدها كل شيء لقراءة النص وتذوّقه، ولذلك فإن لكل نظرية منزلة،وإن هذه المنازل في مجملها يمكن أن تشكّل منهجاً تكاملياً في قراءة النص الأدبي بل سائر النصوص، فالعلاقات اللغوية منزلة،والرؤية السيمائية منزلة، والرؤية البرجماتية منزلة، والرؤية الوظيفية منزلة، ومن هنا جاءت تسمية هذا الكتاب بمنازل الرؤية في قراءة النص.
وقد تضمن هذا الكتاب منزلة العلاقات اللغوية والرؤية السيماتية والبرجماتية والوظيفية، إضافة إلى تجليات الرؤية في شعر سعاد الصبح، وكذلك منازل الرؤية في المضامين والبناء في شعر عز الدين المناصرة، إضافة إلى منزلة بلاغة البلاغة، ومنزلية القيم المعرفية وذلك من خلال التطرق للقيم المعرفية للتراث بنن شاعرين هما: عرار وطوقان.
