-لم يكن المؤلف يفكر يوماً في أن تتحول المقالات اليومية، التي كان يكتبها عن أحداث عام 1990، إلى كتاب، وكان هذا سبب التأخير في إصداره طوال هذه المدة التي زادت على عشر سنوات، ذلك أنه لم يقصد فيما كتبه خلال ذاك العام تأريخ مرحلة زمنية قصيرة من تاريخ لبنان السياسي، لأن هذا العمل من شأن المؤرخين وليس شأن الصحافي الذي يعيش التاريخ ويرفد من يومياته ما يعبّر عن تطلعات مجتمعه وعن الحقيقة التي يجب أن تبقى بنظره ساطعة كنور الشمس، أو كالشمعة في الظلام تنير الطريق أمام الضالين. غير أن نصائح الأصدقاء الكُثر حملته على اتخاذ القرار الصعب بتحويل ما كتبه من مقالات عن تلك الفترة الزمنية المحدودة إلى كتاب ارتأى تسميته "حوار الطرشان".
-"حوار الطرشان" محاولة ليست لتأريخ فترة زمنية من أحداث لبنان وإنّما للمشاركة في إلقاء الضوء على تلك المرحلة، كيف كانت الأحداث فيها تتسارع بشكل خطير يصعب على الصحافي والمراقب اللحاق بها، وسبر كل أغوارها، خصوصاً وأنّ عدة قوى إقليمية وخارجية تداخلت فيها بشكل محكم، ودخلت فيما بينها بصراعات عنيفة كانت استمراراً لصراعاتها على أرض لبنان بعد سنوات قليلة من اندلاع شرارة الحرب الأخيرة.
-"حوار الطرشان" عودة بالذاكرة إلى العام 1990 ليعيش القارئ ظروف تلك المرحلة ومحطاتها، وتقلّباتها، وكل خباياها ومطبّاتها، على أمل أن يكون ما نشر في الكتاب قد أضاء ولو شمعة واحدة في الطريق الطويل المحفوف بالأشواك من كل جوانبه.
