إن للشعوب ثقافات تؤرخ مضامين حياتهم، وتٌبرز وقائع الحياة التي تحياها، ولشعبنا الفلسطيني في هذا السياق، تاريخ صنعه ولا يزال بالعرق والدموع والدم، عبر نضالات وتضحيات تواصلت جيلاً بعد جيل.
إننا نؤمن بأن الإنجازات التي صنعها ويصنعها شعبنا العظيم، بفضل التضحيات التي قدمها من دماء أبنائه لإثبات وجوده وحقه في الحياة، هي مصدر قوته لتحقيق أهدافه السامية ببناء دولة فلسطين الحرة المستقلة وعاصمتها القدس الشريف، على حدود الرابع من حزيران العام 1967م.
بعد كتابه الأول "لحظات من عمري في فلسطين" والذي عبر فيه عن تجربته كإعلامي خلال زيارته أرض الوطن، وهو الذي ولد في الشتات، يصدر للكاتب الصحافي هيثم زعيتر كتاب جديد تحت عنوان: "الأوائل على درب فلسطين"، وهو توثيق لمرحلة مهمة من مسار القضية الفلسطينية، وتحديداً منذ إنطلاقة الثورة الفلسطينية في الأول من كانون الثاني/ يناير 1965، يوثّق تلك الحقبة منذ الشهيد الأول والأسير الأول، إمتداداً إلى قوافل آلاف الشهداء والجرحى والأسرى والمبعدين واللاجئين.
إن مثل هذه التجربة تُلقي الضوء على مراحل مرت بها القضية الفلسطينية، وتُبين التحولات التي جرت من العمل الجماهيري إلى العمل الفدائي، مروراً بالعمل السياسي والدبلوماسي والمفاوضات والتحركات على المستوى الدولي، ومن ضمنها ذلك اليوم الذي حمل فيه قائدنا الراحل الرئيس ياسر عرفات القضية الفلسطينية إلى "الأمم المتحدة" في العام 1974، وحذر قائلاً: "لا تسقطوا غصن الزيتون من يدي... لا تسقطوا الغصن الأخضر من يدي".
مما لا شك فيه أن للكلمة والصورة وقعاً فعالاً ومؤثراً في مسيرتنا النضالية لكشف مجازر وإعتداءات وإنتهاكات الإحتلال بحق أبناء شعبنا، ونهبه لثرواتنا، وتراثنا، والعبث بمقدساتنا.
إن كتاب "الأوائل على درب فلسطين" إضافة جديدة في توثيق تاريخنا النضالي، وإسهام جديد في الوفاء لوطننا وشعبنا...
