شهد الأردن منذ تأسيسه عام 1921 وحتى اليوم نهضة تعليمية كبيرة يصعب تصديقها، وعلى الرغم من قلة امكانياته وافتقاره إلى الموارد الطبيعية والاقتصادية، وعلى الرغم من نقص الثروات المادية والطبيعية، ومواجهته لكثير من الهزات والنكبات السياسية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية، إلا أنه تجاوزها بكل كفاءة واقتدار وتمكن من السير قدما بخطى واثقة حيث احتل منزلة رفيعة وتبوأ مكانة لائقة ليس بين البلاد العربية فحسب، بل على المستوى العالمي وذلك بفضل كفاح أبنائه ومثابراتهم على الجد والعمل وإخلاص قادته وزعمائه. يستعرض هذا الكتاب تطور نظام التربية والتعليم في الأردن منذ تأسيس الدولة عام 1921 إلى اليوم عام 2002، ويقسم هذا الكتاب إلى خمسة أبواب تناولت الأفكار الهامة حول التربية والمدخل إلى النظم التربوية من حيث مفهومها ونشأتها والعوامل المؤثرة فيها، والتربية والتعليم في عهد الإمارة، وعالج وشرح الظروف السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية التي أثرت على التعليم في عهد الإمارة، كما استعرض الكتاب نظام التربية والتعليم في الأردن في عهد المملكة و عناصر العملية التعليمية في عمر المملكة، ليتفرع منه ادارة التعليم وتمويله ونفقاته والمعلمين، وعالج التسهيلات التربوية في مباني ومرافق المدرسة، وأخيراً فقد تناول الكتاب التعليم العالي في الأردن وفي كليات المجتمع الحكومية والأهلية، وكذلك الجامعات الخاصة والحكومية.
