النقاش الذي أثارته نظرية صدام الحضارات لـ صموئيل هنتنغتون تداخل فيه الثقافي بالسياسي والموضوعي بالعصبوي وتراوحت ردود الفعل بين التجاهل والاستخفاف حيناً والاندهاش المفرط حيناً آخر..
ولقد ناقش الإسلاميون في أبحاث مختصرة أو في مقالات بعض مضامين النظرية بشكل متناثر مستحضرين الأصول والخلفيات التي استندت إليها، إلا أن الحاجة استمرت لبناء منظومة رؤيوية متكاملة تعكس فهم الإسلاميين المعاصر للتواصل الحضاري تكاملاً أو صراعاً.
وبديهي القول بأن طرح مثل هذه المنظومة يشكل قاعدة نظرية متماسكة لكل الأطروحات والآراء النقدية في موضوع العلاقة بين الحضارات.
ولعل طرح حوار الحضارات يلخص عنوان رؤية إسلامية وجيهة استطاع أن يكبح جماح التسويق الدعائي الناشط لصدام الحضارات خصوصاً في مرحلة يسودها الغليان في علاقة الغرب المتحفز للسيطرة مع الشرق المحبط بتداعيات القلق على مستوى الهوية والانتماء والتجربة.
وإن هذا الكتاب لمؤلفه الفاضل الأخ الشيخ غالب كجك هو محاولة جادة لنقد نظرية صدام الحضارات وتفنيد مرتكزاتها، فضلاً عن توضيح صلتها بالعقل الغربي والأمريكي وتحديداً الذي تبرز في ملامحه سمتان أساسيتان هما: سمة الاستعلاء، وسمة الخلط السحري بين الخرافي والعلماني.
ولئن اختار المؤلف أن يصف جهده بأن "مجرد معاينة وتحليل متواضع، وأنه رحلة استكشاف لعالم الغرب وحضارته الإثنينية" فإن هذا لا يعفي القارئ من تقدير منصف لحجم الجهد ومنهجيته وتوخيه الشمول، وهو أمر أدركته لجنة المناقشة حين منحت هذا الجهد درجة جيد جداً في جامعة آزاد الإسلامية.
