في "شمس تأذن بالرحيل" يستهل الشاعر سعد عبد الله الغريبي مجموعته الشعرية بـ "رسالة إلى زهير بن أبي سلمى (من وحي معلقته) فيخاطبه:
ألا أنعم صباحاً يا أبا كعب واسلم / ودم طيب الذكرى وغير مُذممٍ ، فقد كنت أستاذاً لشعر وحكمةٍ / وكنتَ لنا في الحرب خيرَ معلمٍ .
ومن هذا المفتتح ينطلق الشاعر لتأسيس حياة النص داخل حياته الشخصية "سألتني عن الجديد لديّا .. قلتُ: لا شيء غير شوقي جديدُ!!" ، ثم لا يلبث أن يقدم إستعراض أيقوني لبنية المكان والزمان وتفرعاتها لتتسع إلى عالم كبير يدخله الشاعر بقوة الوعي الفلسفي والشعري والمعرفي الكوني وليؤسطر العبارة الشعرية في حدودها الميتافيزيقية، وينشطر المخيال الشخصي للشاعر إلى عتبات ودوائر لتهيكل مشهدية بصرية تجول في وجوه الحياة الروحية للشاعر وفي أكثر من عنوان يؤسس لعناصر الكون والحياة والوجود.
تضم المجموعة .. شمس تأذن بالرحيل" قصائد في الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى، وقصائد تنتمي إلى الشعر العربي الحديث، وقصيدة النثر، وقد القاها الشاعر في مناسبات مختلفة، وحاز بعضها على جوائز ومنها (رسالة إلى زهير بن أبي سلمى" (حازت القصيدة المركز الأول في منافسة تجمع (ناشرون) الأردني لدورة فبراير 2013). ومن عناوين هذه المجموعة نذكر: الغصن الندي، غيمة عابرة، الأعمى، حوار مع فيتنامية، الجديد، البحيرة والجبل، الأناني، عاصمة الثقافة الإسلامية، هذا المساء، لعبة الأيام (...) وقصائد أخرى.
