• ماجستير في علم اللغة التطبيقي في مجال تعليم اللغة العربية لغير الناطقين بها - جامعة الإمام محمد بن سعود الإسلامية بالرياض 1985 بتقدير جيد جدا.
• بكالوريوس في اللغة العربية وآدابها والتربية - جامعة أم القرى 1974 بتقدير ممتاز مع مرتبة الشرف الأولى.
• عمل في التدريس والإدارة المدرسية والإشراف التربوي في وزارة التربية (1974-1993)، ثم في المؤسسة العامة للتدريب التقني والمهني مشرفا عاما لمادة اللغة العربية ومديرا لإدارة الأبحاث والمناهج (1993 - 1997) ثم تقاعد تقاعدا مبكرا وعمل بضع سنوات في القطاع الخاص مديرا للموارد البشرية وأخيرا تفرغ للكتابة.
• له مشاركات متعددة في القنوات الإذاعية والتلفازية وفي الصحف والمجلات في إطار اهتماماته اللغوية والأدبية والتربوية والاجتماعية.
• كاتب أسبوعي في الملحق الثقافي لصحيفة الجزيرة ومجلة فرقد الإبداعية.
• شارك في العديد من مهرجانات الشعر والأمسيات الشعرية في كل من السعودية ولبنان والأردن ومصر وتونس والمغرب والسودان وأسبانيا.
صدر له ستة عشر كتابا في اللغة والأدب منها خمسة دواوين شعرية وثلاثة في الأدب وكتابان في أدب الرحلة وكتابان في الخواطر وروايتان. فضلا عن مشاركته في تأليف مقررات اللغة العربية للمعاهد الثانوية التابعة للمؤسسة العامة للتعليم الفني والتدريب التقني.
