تهدف المدرسة إلى تطوير شخصية الطالب بجميع أبعادها، بشكل متكامل، ولعل فهم التلميذ لذاته والقوة في فهم هذه الذات، والرؤى الصحيحة والصحية لها، هو العامل الرئيسي في عملية التعلم وإتقان المهارات لديه، وهو عون ومساعد على الشروع في إنجازات الحياة اليومية والمستقبلية بدافعية عالية، ومنارة التطلع نحو الحساة بايجابية وشجاعة. إن العمل على تطوير مفهوم الذات لذى التلاميذ هو رديف لعملية التعليم وتعليم التفكير، فالتفكير الجيد يأتي من الفهم الواضح للذات والتقدير الايجابي والعالي لها، وهذا بمجمله يؤدي إلى تحسين عملية التعلم ويقود إلى النجاح. تسعى المؤلفة من خلال هذا الكتاب إلى التأكيد على حماية الأبعاد النمائية للطفل والعمل على دفعها في المسار السليم، وتشجيع السلوك الابداعي عند الطفل والتعرف على القدرات الإبداعية لديه والعمل على تطويرها، ومساعدة الطفل على فهم ذاته وتقديرها جيداً، وتطوير هذا الفهم بايجابية وقوة، حيث لا ينفصل تطور مفهوم الذات الايجابي عن عملية التفكير الجيد. ويهدف هذا البرنامج إلى تطوير مفهوم الذات عند الطلبة، ويناسب جميع المراحل التعليمية، ابتداء من الصف الثالث الابتدائي، وحتى المرحلة الثانوية، حيث يحتوي على (126) تدريباً ونشاطاً، يمكن تقديمها للتلاميذ في جزء من الحصة التعليمية العادية، أو يدرّس إلى جانب برامج تعليم التفكير المستقلة كرديف ومعزز لها. هذا ويتكون الكتاب من سبعة أجزاء تشمل التعزيز الايجابي وأبعاد القوة ومن أنا والوعي بقيمة الجسد والرؤى المستقبلية ولغة الذات والعلاقات مع الآخرين.
