تمثل فصول هذا الكتاب مدخلاً لقراءة الإيقاعية الجديدة للشعر العربي المعاصر، تفصح عن ارتباطها بالذاتي الموروث وبالغيري المكتسب. وقد جاءت هذه القراءة على ضوء دراسةٍ لنماذج شعرية ثلاث مثل أصحابها بنمط شعرهم باكورة الحركة الشعرية المعاصرة وهم: بدر شاكر السياب وصلاح عبد الصبور وحميد سعد، حيث رصد الباحث إيقاعية شعرهم من خلال أعمالهم في محاولة للكشف عن أن تجربة كل منهم الإيقاعية نابعة من الموروث الإيقاعي القديم، مضافاً إليه إيقاعات جديدة.
ويبقى الإيقاع من أصوب الآليات المتحكمة في النص الشعري، لأنه يقوم على دعامة توازن بين المحورين: الصوتي والدلالي. واعتباراً لأهمية هذا الدور، فإن مهمة الإيقاع تنظيمية أكثر مما هي ترصيفية، يتوخى من ورائها أحداث تناغم جرسي لا غير، بل انها لتقوم بدور التنسيق والانسجام بين بنيات النص الشعري، بجعلها كلاً متماسكاً.
ولعل هذا الدور هو الأساس الذي أدى إلى تشعب البحث في الإيقاع، بل هو الذي حدا بالباحث إلى الوقوف على أبرز سماته وأشكاله وعناصره عند كل من هؤلاء الثلاثة، وذلك عبر مجموعة من المحاور التي أخذ بها الباحث بعد استقراء نصي. وهي مع استقلاليتها تبدو في تقديره متداخلة ومنسجمة فيما بَيْنها في نفس الآن. وهذا التقسيم هو أجراء منهجي اعتمده الباحث لغرض دراسي لا غير.
ما الإيقاع؟ وما هو دور هذا العنصر الجوهري في تشكيل الخطاب الشعري؟ وما العلاقة التي يقيمها داخل هذا الخطاب مع الدلالة؟
هذه الأسئلة، وغيرها، واجهتنا ونحن بصدد إنجاز بحوث الكتاب، حيث حاولنا بإخلاص أن نجيب عنها أو عن بعضها، لإرضاء رغبة طالما ألحت علينا لمقاربة النص الشعري المعاصر في شرطه الإيقاعي.
ولعلنا لم نخطئ الهدف الذي رامته هذه الدراسة، حين جعلنا من المنجز الشعري عند هؤلاء الشعراء ميداناً إجرائياً ترصدنا من خلالها لإيقاعية شعرهم مستخلصين إياها من صميم متنهم المدروس، مبعدين عنها كل تدخل يفرض عليها قسرياً من خارجها، الشيء الذي جعل كل واحد من هؤلاء الشعراء يوحي ويلخص: يوحي بأن تجربته الإيقاعية نابعة من الموروث الإيقاعي القديم، ويلخص في نفس الآن مضان الجدة التي ترهص بوجود إيقاعات جديدة، إذ عبر الإيحاء والتلخيص يجتمع لهم رفد المكتسب بالموروث.
