يشكل هذا البحث القيم "كربلاء... ذاكرة الرأي العام والحقيقة الموضوعية للتاريخ" رؤية موضوعية فعلاً مدعومة بالبحث والتحقيق والتمحيص التاريخي، تنتهي إلى اعتبار مأساة كربلاء حلقة تتصل اتصالاً عضوياً بسلسلة من الأحداث أهمها ما وقع بعد وفاة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم وصولاً إلى عام (61 للهجرة) تاريخ موقعه كاربلاء، وبلغة النظر أن الكاتب الحصيف الذي رسم كتابه بعنوان "كربلاء" لم يخصص لسرد واقعة كربلاء سوى جزء يسير من النص الكامل للكتاب.
وهنا تكمن الرؤية الحصيفة لأحداث التاريخ بوصفها حلقات مترابطة، حيث جاءت واقعة كربلاء في الرؤية الفكرية والتاريخية للمؤلف كتتويج لمجموعة من التراكمات السلبية التي كان لا بد من أن يصار للقيام بثورة تصحيحية اتجاهها تعيد للتاريخ الإسلامي نبضه الحي وسياقه الصاعد على النحو الذي يخدم رسالة الإسلام وقيمها وتعاليمها وإذا أردنا أن ننوه بالسمات الخاصة لهذا البحث وهي كثيرة فإننا تتوقف عند اعتراض الكاتب على عقلية التقديس تقديس الماضي، وتقديس الرجال، وتقديس التراث، بصورة أدت إلى خنق روح البحث والتجدد والاجتهاد، وكتابة تاريخ تخدم حاضر الأمة ومستقبلها، داعياً إلى إعادة قراءة التاريخ بمنهج عقلي تحليلي موضوعي مجرد ونزيه، معتبراً أن الوصول إلى حقائق الأحداث والوقائع وإلى معانيها الحقيقية لا يتم إلا بهذا المنهج الذي يتسم بالجرأة والموضوعية والتجرد.
