في كتابه (التقمص والمسوخية في القرآن) يسعى "عدنان سمندر" إلى التوفيق بين الشريعة والعقل، وهو يقرأ كل الإتجاهات الفكرية الدينية وغير الدينية - الفلسفية - ليصل بالعقل إلى معرفة الله "جل جلاله"، وليصل أيضاً "إلى التأويل السليم للشريعة كي لا تتعارض مع الحقيقة".
وفي الكتاب يتطرق الكاتب لأمور دينية كثيرة كالحياة والموت، والثواب والعقاب، والجنة والنار، والشفاعة والإستغفار، وهي من صلب الموضوعات الدينية التي تؤثر على مجمل حياة الإنسان وسلوكه.
وهكذا يخرج الكاتب من فصل إلى فصل مستنداً على الآيات القرآنية والأحاديث النبوية، وما جاء عن مدرسة آل البيت، ويناقش كثيراً من المواضيع المخفية في فهمها، وهي مجموع تساؤلات دينية وفلسفية تتطرق إلى مصير الإنسان في مرحلة ما بعد الموت وفق مجموعة من آيات القرآن الكريم، كذلك يتناول الكاتب فكرة عدل الله فيعلل ولادة المعاقين ويتحدث عن إمتحان الدنيا وابتلاء الله تعالى للبشر بالخير والشر، ويرى أن الأدلة القرآنية تؤكد فكرة العودة إلى الحياة بعد الموت حيث يناقش مسألة التقمص، والبرزخ، وتبعاً لهذا يناقش الكاتب أيضا فكرة (المسوخية) بين الآيات القرآنية وتفاسيرها، ثم مع الأحاديث وشروحها، ثم ينتقل إلى مسائل أخرى مثل الوضوء، وطبيعة الرسل، ويقف عند علم من العلوم القرآنية هو (المحكم والمتشابه) الآيات المحكمات والأخر المتشابهات، ثم يناقش موضوع الخمرة ويتحدث عن أنواع المسكرات. ويتحدث عن لباس المرأة من خلال النص القرآني .. ليصل إلى محطات مضيئة وحديث النقل والعقل، ويختم بحثه بالحديث عن اليهود في فلسطين.
جميل أن يُعرف الله بالعقل، وجميل ألا تتعارض الشريعة مع الحقيقة، وجميل كذلك أن يتسع صدر الإنسان بمساحة من السماحة، ليقرأ كل المدارس والاتجاهات الفكرية الدينية وغير الدينية، ليصل بالعقل إلى الله، وليصل إلى التأويل السليم للشريعة كي لا تتعارض مع الحقيقة. وكما الثنائية في الحقيقة والشريعة يجب أن تكون متفقة، فإن ظاهر الكلام يجب أن يتفق مع باطنه، لتكون ثنائية شبيهة بثنائية الحقيقة والشريعة.
