هذه دراسة تتناول إحدى أحدث وسائل الإيفاء والائتمان في العصر الحديث كما تعكس إلى حد بعيد مدى تطور، أو بتعبير أصح مدى سرعة التطور الذي تشهده التقنية المصرفية الغربية. صحيح أن بطاقة الاعتماد اعتمدتها في مطلع القرن العشرين المؤسسات التجارية، تلتها مؤسسات مالية، إلا أنه من منتصف القرن ظهرت البطاقة المصرفية، وتمكنت من لعب دور بارز على صعيدي الإيفاء والسحب، بل وحتى الائتمان، حيث أن تدخل المصارف جعل آلية التعامل ببطاقات الإيفاء أكثر سرعة ونجاحاً وشمولية.
علماً بأن البطاقات المعتمدة اليوم من قبل المصارف اللبنانية كبطاقة Master card أو visa أو link إنما هي في الواقع تضم عدداً كبيراً من المصارف ليس فقط في لبنان بل في كافة أنحاء العالم حيث أن حامل البطاقة ولو غادر إلى خارج البلاد فبأمكانه بدون شك الاستفادة من مزايا عديدة توفرها له بطاقة الاعتماد.
وبالعودة لمتن هذه الدراسة نجدها تتضمن خمسة أقسام وهي: القسم الأول: نشأة وتطور بطاقة الاعتماد، القسم الثاني: العلاقات القانونية والآثار المترتبة على استخدام بطاقة الاعتماد، القسم الثالث: الاستعمال الاحتيالي لبطاقة الاعتماد المسروقة أو المفقودة، القسم الرابع: اجتهادات المحكمة العليا الفرنسية مع نموذج عن عقد خاص ببطاقة link المصرفية، القسم الخامس: دراسة فرنسية في بطاقات الإيفاء.
