الباسكال هي لغة للمبتدئين، لقد تم تصورها بالفعل، لتعليم البرمجة كما لو كانت مادة تعليمية دقيقة قائمة على بعض المفاهيم الأساسية الظاهرة بوضوح في اللغة. والباسكال، هي في ذات الوقت، لغة للمحترفين، فعّالة جداً، تسمح بالكتابة الجيدة لبرامج تقرأ بسهولة، فإذن هي لغة قابلة للتعديل من شخص لآخر وهي سهلة التنقيح.
وقد أعدّ هذا الكتاب ليكون فعّالاً، ولذا اعتمد مؤلفه عرضاً تدريجياً، فكان لا بد أن يعتمد على تكرار مفتعل، متضمناً أسلوباً وتنويطات محددة، والكثير من الأمثلة مع القليل من التفصيلات التكنولوجية. وجاءت شروحه متطابقة مع النظم ISO وAFNOR.
وإذا أردنا استعراض مواد هذا الكتاب نجد أنه يسمح في جزئه الأول للمبتدئ، بأن ينطلق في عالم البرمجة مستعملاً طريقة أثبتت وجودها، ليشرح في الجزء الثاني الأدوات المعالجة ومن ثم طريقة معالجتها في الجزء الثالث، هذا وإن العناصر المدخلة في هذين الجزئين تتماشى مع ما هو ضروري للبرمجة في جميع الأوقات. وجاء الجزء الرابع ليتمم المفاهيم التي سبقته بهدف استعمال لغة الباسكال بشكلها الكامل. وأخيراً، يوجز الجزء الخامس اللغة إلى مذكرة مساعدة. وهناك بعض الملحقات التي تسهل البلوغ المباشر في الكتاب.
