إن الفتوحات الإسلامية وما نتج عنها من إختلاط بين أبناء البلاد المفتوحة وغيرهم من العرب كالرحلات، ومواسم الحج، والجواري، والمصاهرة وكلها من العوامل التي ساعدت على الإختلاط وبالتالي الوقوع في اللحن الأمر الذي دفع بطبقة الرواة العلماء لوضع قواعد اللغة العربية، والقواعد بحاجة إلى شواهد شعرية يجعلونها أساساً للقاعدة، ولم يجدوا أفصح من الشعر القديم وموطنه البادية، علماً بأن هنالك شعراء معاصين لهم وهم من الفصاحة بمكان إلا أنهم في نظرهم كانوا مولدين ومحدثين، لذلك لم يستشهدوا بأشعارهم وذلك من باب الإحتياط والتحرز.
لذلك حرص الكاتب على ان يكون كتابة موسوم بملامح النقد عند الرواة وأثرهم في النقد الأدبي إستكمالاً لما كنت قد بدأت به في رسالتي للدكتوراه، فأقام هذا البحث على بابين وفي كل فصول، فكان الباب الأول بعنوان: "النقد وإتجاهاته عبر العصور" وفيه ثلاثة فصول؛ الفصل الأول: يدور حول النقد عند الإغريق "اليونان"، والفصل الثاني: يدور حول النقد عند الرومان، والفصل الثالث: يدور حول النقد عند العرب.
أما الباب الثاني فكان بعنوان: "أثر الرواة في النقد الأدبي" وفيه أربعة فصول: الفصل الأول: يدور حول الرواة في المختارات الشعرية، والفصل الثاني: يدور حول دور الرواة في إصلاح الشعر، والفصل الثالث: يدور حول السرقات الشعرية وموقف الرواة منها، والفصل الرابع: يدور حول قضية الإنتحال وموقف الرواة منها.
ثم أنهي البحث بخاتمة ضمنتها النتائج التي توصل إليها أثناء هذه الدراسة معتمداً على أهم المصادر والمراجع التي تناولت موضوع الرواة من جوانبه المختلفة دون أن أغفل الكتب والمؤلفات التي خلّفها لنا الرواة أنفسهم حيث كان الإعتماد عليها في المرتبة الأولى، وقد أثبتناها في ثنايا هذا البحث.
