يعد الإستدلال نشاطاً فكرياً يهدف إلى اتخاذ قرار أو حل مشكلة حلاً ذهنياً عن طريق الرموز والخبرات السابقة، وعندما يواجه الفرد مشكلة ما أو يكون أمامه هدف لا يمكن تحقيقه بأشكال السلوك المألوفة لديه، تنشأ الحاجة إلى حل المشكلة والتغلب على العوائق، وذلك باكتشاف الوسائل لتجنب العوائق والوصول إلى حل للمواقف، وهذا يتطلب الإعتماد على عملية اختيار وتوظيف بعض من خبراته السابقة التي تتصل بما يواجهه، فالتفكير الإستدلالي هدفه الوصول إلى نتيجة لم تكن معلومة من مقدمات معلومة، وهذا مات يميّز الإستدلال عن غيره من أنواع التفكير.
ويعتبر الإستدلال أحد المؤشرات الهامة للذكاء العام إذ أن اعتماد كثير من المواد التعليمية المختلفة على أطر تنظيمية متنوعة، والنجاح فيها يتوقف على قدرة الطالب على التفكير الإستدلالي. وتنبع أهمية هذه الدراسة من كونها تقنن اختبار عالمي يقيس القدرة على التفكير الإستدلالي وهو اختبار أيسر للقدرة الإستدلالية (ACER TEST OF REASONING ABILITY) ، وإن البيئة الأردنية تخلو من اختبار يقيس هذه القدرة للصف الأول الثانوي علمي وأدبي.
وبناءً عليه تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى اشتقاق معايير أداء طلبة الصف الأول الثانوي على الصورة المعربة لاختبار أيسر للقدرة على التفكير الإستدلالي، معبراً عنها بالعلامات المعيارية والتساعيات والمئينات، واشتقاق معايير أداء طلبة الصف الأول الثانوي الذكور والإناث على الصورة المعربة لاختبار أيسر للقدرة على التفكير الإستدلالي، معبراً عنها بالعلامات المعيارية والتساعيات المئينات، وأخيراً اشتقاق معايير أداء طلبة الصف الأول الثانوي العلمي والأدبي على الصورة المعربة لاختبار أيسر للقدرة على التفكير الإستدلالي معبراً عنها بالمعايير.
