يعالج "الإمام الخميني" في رسالة الطلب والإرادة مسألة الأفعال الإنسانية من جهة علاقتها بالعلم والإرادة الإلهيين. بحيث تزول شبهة الجبر الإفعالي من أساسها مستخدماً في معالجتها ما انتهت إليه الفلسفة الإسلامية من نتائج حول الوجود وأصالته ووقوع التشكك فيه ووحدته الشخصية وكثرته، مظهراً في أسلوبه هذا خلاصة تصوراته في بعض من الصفات الإلهية من جهة كيف هي: كالإرادة والكلام والعلم والقدرة وفي بعض من المسائل الفلسفية التي كثر النزاع فيها من قبيل هذا "نظرية صدور الواحد عن الأحد" و"نظرية ما يجب يوجد" وغير ذلك.
ولما كان المصنف قد ترك مطالب هذه الرسالة دونما برهنة وتنقيح فضلاً عن استخدامه للغة القديمة وسعيه للاختصار فقد سعى المؤلف "محمد رضا محمد" في كتابه هذا إلى عرض مطالب الإمام الخميني على البراهين مبيناً مدى موافقتها لها، محاولاً إعداد صياغة أخرى للبعض الآخر من المطالب المستعصية، وهدفه إذلال صعاب فهمه بعض من التذليل وتوضيح ما سعى إليه المصنف من وراء تدوين رسالة.
