وعبر صفحات الكتاب يستحضر المؤلف مفكرون من الشرق والغرب وأدباء وشعراء قدامى ومعاصرون للنظر في ما قالوه عن الوطن والعقيدة والشؤون السياسية والإجتماعية المختلفة، حيث أرفق المؤلف مع الشرح نصوص مقتبسة لكل من "المنغلوطي" و"جبران خليل جبران"، و"نزار قباني"، و"توفيق يوسف عواد"، "وابن المقفع"، و"أفلاطون"... وآخرون كلٌ عبر على طريقته عن العلاقة مع الآخر، الأمر الذي سيتيح لقارئ قراءة مغايرة تتيح صوغ مفاهيم ومعايير وقواعد جديدة للمشترك البشري.
يتألف الكتاب من تمهيد للمؤلف واثنا عشر فصلاً جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "الشرق والغرب! من يلغي مَنْ؟!"، "السلطة والمواطن: خضوع وإلغاء"، "المهمشون في مجتمع إستغلالي"، "المقدس والمدنس"، "الآخر المزدول في العلاقات الطبقية"، "التقاليد والحب العابر للطوائف"... "المدينة غير الفاضلة في المدينة الفاضلة" وعناوين أخرى ذات صلة.
