ولعل أهمية هذه الأسماء أكثر من واضحة، خاصة للقارئ الذي هو على إطلاع وصلة وعلاقة بالرواية العربية نقداً ودراسة أو قراءة. فلعلنا لا نغالي إذا ما قلنا إن جبرا إبراهيم جبرا هو واحد من أثرى الكتاب العرب وأكثرهم عطاء وإبداعاً وتنوعاً في هذا الإثراء والعطاء والإبداع، فطال باعه النقد الأدبي والرواية, والشعر، والترجمة، إضافة إلى القصة القصيرة والنقد التشكيلي.
أما فؤاد التكرلي فأعتقد أن حصوله على جائزة العويس للرواية والقصة يترجم الكثير من أهميته وأهمية إبداعه في الأدب العراقي بشكل خاص والعربي بشكل عام طيلة أكثر من نصف قرب.
ومع ارتباط عبد الرحمن الربيعي بالقصة القصيرة لا العراقية فقط بل العربية عموماً، وخاصة عبر دوره التجديدي في الستينيات والسبعينيات، فإن عطاءه الروائي يضعه عن جدارة ضمن الروائيين الذي لا يمكن لدارس للرواية العربية أن يتجاوزهم.
وإذا كانت ريادة الروائي الكبير غالب طعمه فرمان للرواية الفنية في العراق كافية بنفسها لاكتسابه أهميته الإبداعية، فإنه لمن المفيد أن نشير إلى أن عموم الدراسات النقدية، وخاصة الاستشراقية، التي تتناول الرواية العربية بشكل عام لا تكاد تتجاوز رواياته وتجربته المتميزة.
