يرتكز كتاب "إرشاد الحائر إلى صحّة حديث الطائر" لمؤلفه الأستاذ حسن عبد الله علي العجمي على حديث ورد في "تاريخ مدينة دمشق" ومصادر أخرى مفاده: أنه أهدي إلى رسول الله ﷺ أطيار، قسمها وترك طيراً، فقال: "اللهم آئتني بأحب خلقك إليك يأكل معي من هذا الطير" فجاء علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه، فدخل يأكل معه من ذلك الطير".
ولهذا اعتبر المؤلف أن هذا الحديث هو من مناقب سيدنا علي رضي الله عنه، وفضائله أيضاً، ومما جاء من فضائله الحديث المعروف بحديث الطير أو الطائر المشوي، ولما يحمل هذا الحديث في مضمونه من دلالة علي أي علي رضي الله عنه أفضل أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، وأنه يأتي في مرتبة الأفضلية بعد النبي الاكرم محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم، إلا أن البعض أنكر هذا الحديث وردّه البعض لمخالفته لما يذهب إليه علماء الحديث من تفضيل الرسول بعض الصحابة عليه، فطعنوا في هذا الحديث سنداً ودلالة.
ولهذا الغرض جاء هذا الكتاب ليناقش بعض أسانيد الحديث، مما جاء في مصادر أهل السُّنُّه ومصنفاتهم، ولمعرفة صحة الحديث من عدمه، إنطلاقاً من قواعد ومباني الحديث الصحيح، واقوال البعض من علماء السُّنَّة، والكشف عما ورد حول مضمونه من شبهات وإشكالات...
