هناك في كل جزء من الجسم البشري تناغم وانسجام عجيبان وقوة داخلية على وجه التقريب من التغلب على كل ما من شأنه أن ينزل به الضرر، غير أن الجسم أحياناً يفقد ما ينعم به من تناغم وانسجام، وربما كان ذلك عن طريق عادات العيش السقيمة مما يتيح للمكروبات المرضية أن تغزوه وتوقع به الضرر إذا لم تصدها أجهزة دفاعه.
وباكتشافنا أسرار الطبيعة نتعرف بأنفسنا ونتفهم ذواتنا بصورة أوضح ونقدر قيمة العيش في توافق مع سنن الطبيعة، وهي السنن التي تتحكم في الشمس والنجوم وتجعل النبات ينمو والأزهار تتفتح، إنها القوى التي نواها عاملة في العقل البشري والجسم البشري-قوة الحياة نفسها.
إن دراسة كهذه تساعدنا ليس على فهم أنفسنا فحسب، بل أيضاً تزيدنا اقتراباً من الخلاق العظيم المهيمن على الكون بأسره.
