لم تشكل ديانة أو مذهب من المذاهب خلافاً في الآراء وتناقضاً في المواقف مثلما شكلت الأيزيدية لأسباب منها كون أكثر ما كتب عنها قديماً من غير الملمين عملياً بأحوالها ومعتقداتها ومن غير المتعايشين شخصياً مع الأيزيدية، أو المطلعين عن قرب على حقائق دينهم وطقوسهم وعقيدتهم وعلاقاتهم الاجتماعية، واعتمادهم على المرويات من القصص وعدم تمكنهم من الاتصال بالأيزيدية بالنظر لسرية عقيدتهم وانغلاقهم على الأجانب وخوفهم من نتيجة الحروب والمجازر التي مورست عليهم، وخشيتهم من الغريب يضاف إلى ذلك عدم كتابة أحد من أبناء الأيزيدية، بالنظر لمنعهم من القراءة والكتابة قديماً وتفشي الجهل والأمية بين مجتمعاتهم، ولم تظهر لهم قديماً مساهمات مباشرة في نشر لمحات عن ديانتهم وتوضيح لأسس فلسفتهم، لعدم تمكن البعض من مخالفة تعاليم رجال الدين الأيزيدي الصارمة، التي توصي بسرية العقيدة والتكتم عليها والاحتفاظ بها في الصدور، وعدم جواز التحدث بها للأغراب من غير دين الأيزيدية. وعلى الرغم من أن التاريخ الأيزيدي يحتوي خزيناً ثرياً من الحكايات والقصص والأساطير والشعر والتراتيل والصلوات والحكايات والحقائق المتراكمة عبر الزمن فإن أحد لم يلجها، ولم تلفت نظر الباحثين. ولكن الدراسة التاريخية المجتزأة لا تفي بالغرض المطلوب مما يتطلب الرجوع إلى الأصول لتكوين هذه الديانة مما سيشكل أثراً كبيراً في فهم الحقيقة الأيزيدية.
هذا الكتاب مساهمة في استكناه الحقائق والمعلومات عن معالم الحياة الاجتماعية المثيرة في العراق، باحثاً في حقيقتهم ورموزهم الدينية والمكان المقدس والفتاوى الدينية التي ذبحتهم وكتبهم الدينية، وعن المرأة الأيزيدية ومناسبات الفرح لديهم. ويشكل الكتاب مساهمة في رفد المكتبة العربية ببحث عن الأيزيدية يعتمد الحقيقة والموضوعية.
