صاحب هذا الكتاب هو كاهنٌ للمسيح منذ نحوٍ من ستّين عاماً، أمضى منها أكثر من ثلاثة عقود أميناً لأسرار الكرسيّ البطريركي ولبطريرك أنطاكيا وسائر للشرق للموارنة.
هذا الرجل "الديبلوماسيّ"، الذي لم يُدلِ يوماً بتصريحٍ علنيّ إلى الصحافة، ولم ينشر شيئاً من مذكّراته، التي لا بدّ أنها تحفل بالكثير من الوقائع المهموسة وخلفيّاتها، كتب فيه زميلنا الصحافيّ الكبير الراحل ميشال أبو جودة ثلاث مرّات، في إفتتاحيّاته "النهاريّة" متحدّثاً عن دوره الإيجابيّ الفاعل، الظاهر والخفيّ، في كواليس البطريركيّة المارونيّة، التي كان مكتبه فيها، منتدىً يومياً يلتقي فيه كبار رجال الدين والدنيا، من لبنان والعالم.
شخصٌ كهذا، اضطلع بمثل هذا الدور، وحمل مثل هذه المسؤوليات، ووضع نحواً من سبعة وعشرين كتاباً دينياً منشوراً، فضلاً عن مخطوطاتٍ عدّة مهيّأة للنشر، لا بدّ أن يجد اللبنانيّون، مسيحيّين ومسلمين وعلمانيّين على السواء، في "وصيّته" هذه إلى الموازنة، مفاتيح مضيئة ترشدهم إلى أبواب الخلاص، وخصوصاً في هذه الأوقات التاريخيّة الحرجة من تاريخ لبنان.
"وصيّتي إلى الموازنة" لميشال العويط، هو خريطة طريق لكلّ اللبنانيّين، الذين يبحثون عن ضوءٍ يقيهم العثرة، ويجنّبهم، وبلادهم، السقوط في الهاوية.
