"رياض العبيد" شاعر ولد في سوريا، ومن جامعة دمشق نال الليسانس في الفلسفة عام 1986. التحق بجامعة تريد في ألمانيا الغربية ومنها حصل على الماجستير صدرت له حتى الآن أربع مجموعات شعرية هي تحولات في الأرض، صلوات في معبد الزمن، قران الهجرة وحديقة الرغبة.
وهذا الكتاب يحوي على المجموعة الشعرية الخامسة له وهو يضم قصائد دونها الشاعر خلال الأعوان 1995-1998 في ألمانيا الغربية منها مفاتن الحجر، أفيال القبلة، مع ابن بطوطة في أسفاره لاجئاً في الهمس، أعراس وحيدة، لذة الجمر، رغبة واحدة، قرب الفجر، نهج البنفسج، معراج الوردة، غناء الفناء، عناية في قنديل..
