قانون أصول المحاكمات الجزائية، هو القانون الذي تم بموجبه تنظيم إجراءات الملاحقة الجزائية والمحاكمة وكيفية السير بها وقد مضى على صدور قانون أصول المحاكمات الجزائية اللبناني القديم أكثر من خمسين سنة، وبقي على حاله التي صدر فيها حتى العام 2001 دون أن تطرأ عليه تعديلات جذرية. إذ أن التعديلات التي أدخلت لم تكن بمستوى ما يتمناه رجل القانون وبمستوى ما تقتضيه الحاجة العصرية.
وهذا الكتاب الأول يدور حول هيكلية القضاء الجزائي وتنظيمه، حيث تقوم الخطوط العريضة والأفكار التوجيهية لقانون أصول المحاكمات الجزائية على مواصفات ومبادئ عامة وغلى خصوصيات تميزه عن سائر القوانين وهذا ما يبحثه المؤلف بعد أن يعرض قانون أصول المحاكمات الجزائية. ويبين أهميته بالنسبة إلى القوانين الأخرى. حيث يدقق بالتالي في مدى العلاقة بين قانون أصول المحاكمات الجزائية وبين القانون الجزائي، وبينه وبين قانون أصول المحاكمات المدنية. كما يعرض للمبادئ والقواعد الأساسية التي تقوم عليها الإجراءات الجزائية. وهذا الكتاب هو الأول في سلسلة كتب موجهة لطلبة كليات الحقوق والمعاهد القضائية والعاملين في مجال القضاء والمحاماة على حد سواء.
