في الدراسة التي بين أيدينا محاولة في البحث حول معالم "الدراما الأسيوية في محاولات التنمية التي قامت بها إدارة الشاه في إيران إذن هي ليست محاولة لاكتشاف عناصر التخلف فقط بل التطرق إلى شروطه. ولتغطي الدراسة كافة أبعادها، تم تقسيمها إلى ثلاثة فصول وخاتمة، أما الفصل الأول فخصص لدراسة أبعاد التنمية في الداخل الإيراني، ولتحديد علاقات القوى، وأبعاد ظهور واستمرار التركيبة الاجتماعية المسيطرة.
ثم في الفصل الثاني تم الربط بين نتيجة الفشل الذي ساهمت فيه هذه القوى "لمحدثي النعمة" و"القوى التقليدية" والارتباطات الإيرانية بالإمبريالية الغربية والاحتكارات النفطية والمالية والتبعية الاقتصادية، وشروط التخلف التي فرضت على حسها. ثم أفرد الفصل الثالث للحدث حول تجسيد علاقات التبعية الاقتصادية بالأرقام في شكل العلاقات الدولية التجارية والاقتصادية لإيران، وفي كلا من هذه الفصول كانت التسمية الأساسية في عناصر شرح هذه الدراما هي تحليل وضعية النظام الشاهنشاهي والوصول إلى هذه التركيبة الطبقية والنظامية الاجتماعية والسياسية إنما هي نتاج لعلاقات التبعية وداخلة في علاقة جدلية معها. وفي الخاتمة تم التعرض لشروط الانطلاق وأهمها التخلص من التبعية وإيجاد النموذج المستقل وليس المنغلق.
