وحكاية هذا الجندي التي يرويها هذا الكتاب ليست مجرد سرد لمعاناة شخصية، بل فيها الكثير من الهموم القومية والحوادث التي تعرضت لها النهضة السورية القومية الاجتماعية في سيرها.
فصول هذه الحكاية تتناول حادثة الجميزة المفتعلة، والثورة القومية الاجتماعية الأولى، ومحاكمة الزعيم أنطون سعادة وإعدامه. وتصف الحكاية أياماً في السجن أمضاها هذا المناضل. سلسلة طويلة من المعاناة يسردها هذا الكتاب الذي يقدم شهادات حية على بطولة ونضال رجل آمن بمبادئ العقيدة القومية الاجتماعية فانخرط في صفوفها مناضلاً.
"أيام في الذاكرة" هي قصة نضال ممزوج بالفخر، والاعتزاز، ومجبول بالشقاء والآلام. قصة تبدأ منذ نعومة أظفار صاحبها يوم كان في "المدرسة الأموية" أيام حكم الانتداب الفرنسي. فيروي لنا كيف تربَّى على الحس القومي متأثراً بأستاذه الذي وكان يغرس الروح القومية في نفسه، ونفوس زملائه الطلبة، الذي صُرف من عمله بسبب مواقفه القومية. فيكتشف هذا الطالب بعد حين أن أستاذه كان عضواً في حزب عقائدي يختلف عن باقي التشكيلات السياسية القائمة إلى أن تقوده المصادفات بعد سنتين فيقع نظره على اشارة يضعها صديقه على سترته وتحوي رموزاً أربعة. فتستهويه هذه الرموز، وتدفعه للانتماء إلى الحزب.
