يقدم هذا الكتاب دراسة شاملة و وافية لقانون العمل الجديد حيث يعرف العمل بأنه جهد عقلي أو فكري يبذله الإنسان بحيث يدخل في قيمة السلعة المنتجة أو الخدمة المقدمة وقانون العمل لا يحكم على كل عمل يبذل بل يقتصر على صنف واحد من أصناف العمل التي تبذل في المجتمع فإما أن يقسم العمل إلى عمل يقوم به من يقدمون عملا لحساب الدولة أو لحساب القطاع الخاص أو إلى عمل مأجور يهدف العامل من ورائه إلى الحصول على أجر أو عمل مستقل وهو الذي يقدمه الشخص لحساب نفسه ويشير إلى التطور التاريخي لقانون العمل في العصور القديمة فقد كرست نظام الرق فيها وفي العصور الوسطى أصبح يقوم على نظام الإقطاع وفي العصر الحديث انتشر مبادئ الحرية والإخاء والمساق وكان من نتائج ذلك سيادة مبدأ الحرية في التعاون وفي الأردن تأخر صدور تشريعات وطنية بشأن علاقة العمل لان المجتمع كان زراعياً بالدرجة الأولى ثم وضعت التشريعات بعد وحدة الضفتين ودخول الصناعة الى الميدان الإقتصادي في الأردن واستحد ثت وزارة العمل فيها.
