ثلاثة أمور يجب الانتباه إليها عند-تعليم مادة التفكير-وهذه الأمور هي:
المعلم، المادة، والتلميذ وإذا نقدم المعلم على هذه العناصر، ذلك أن معلم المادة هو الذي يراعي كل عنصر من عناصر عملية التعليم والتعلم، فهو يتصرف بالمادة ويراعي وضع التلميذ ويوصل الهدف، وإذا كان معلم أي مادة يجب أن تتوفر لديه الرغبة في التعليم، فإن معلم "مادة التفكير" يتطلب منه ليس أن يكون راغباً في تعليم مادة التفكير فقط، وإنما مستعداً ليبذل الجهود المضنية على جبهتين: أولاهما المادة التي عليه أن يبذل جهداً مضنياً في الحصول عليها أو فهمها أكثر تقريباً من أي مادة أخرى.
ذلك أن موضوع تعليم التفكير حديث، وأن مادته ليس من السهل الحصول عليها، أو فهمها، ولا ينتهي دور معلم مادة التفكير عند فهم المادة والرغبة في تدريسها، بل عليه أن يطوعها ويجعلها مرغوبة من قبل التلميذ، ولهذا فإنه -في رأي المؤلف- لا يكفي أن يكون معلم مادة التفكير مطالعاً للمادة ثم ملقياً لها على الطلاب، بل يجب أن يكون باحثاً متقياً صبوراً له القدرة على مواجهة الغموض ليس لأن هذه من صفات المفكر التي يحاول معلم مادة التفكير إيصالها لطلابه، بل إنه من الصعب أن يقوم بواجبه ما لم يكن كذلك، لأن الإطلاع السطحي على المادة، وخاصة مادة التفكير، لا يفيد الطلاب في شيء خاصة أن شعوب الأرض أصبحت تهتم بموضوع تعليم مادة التفكير، بعد أن كانت معظم هذه الشعوب تهتم بتخزين المعلومات لدى أبنائها، واليوم لا تهتم بحفظ المعلومات فقط، رغم أهميته، وإنما يقدره الفرد على استعمال هذه المعلومات فالفرد يكون إنسانا بفضل قدرته على التفكير وليس بفضل المعلومات التي يخزنها في ذهنه، فالتصرف في المعلومات وتحويلها واستنباط المعاني منها والانتفاع بها لمصلحة الإنسان وما إلى ذلك، إنما يتم بالتفكير. لهذا لا أريد أن أشيد بهذا الكتاب وأهميته وفائدته كالعادة كما يفعل المؤلفون، وإنما أريد الإشارة إلى أنني كمعلم لمادة تعليم التفكير أبذل جهوداً مضنية في البحث والتنقيب في هذا المجال، ومهما كان رأي الآخرين في ذلك، من أجل زيادة المعرفة لدي مما يجعلني أقدر على التوصيل طلابي إلى الهدف المنشود وهو القدرة على التفكير من أجل التكيف مع مشاكل الحياة.
