الهدف من هذه الدراسة التي تدور حول الأسفار المقدسة قبل الإسلام هو الرد على خصوم الوحي الإلهي في الإسلام وكشف وإبراز اوجه التناقض، وصور الاضطراب العقدي والموضوعي الذي يحيط بجملة عقائد اليهود والنصارى. وقد استند المؤلف في كل ما تحدث على العهد القديم والعهد الجديد باعتبارهما المصادر العقدية الرئيسية عند أمة اليهود والنصارى.
أما موضوعات الكتاب فقد قسمت على أبواب ستة جاءت مرتبة وفقاً لما يلي يتناول الباب الأول منه التعريف بالتوراة في اصلها التاريخي وترجيح أصوب الآراء العلمية في تحديد عمرها الزمني، وذلك بهدف الوقوف على زمان تحريفها. أما الباب الثاني فقد خصص للحديث عن تحريف التوراة. هذا وقد تناول في الباب الثاني المصدر العقدي الذي يتواكب مع التوراة ويتلازم وهو: التلمود، وذلك لكي يبحث فيهما معاً: التوراة والتلمود عن مقومات العقيدة الدينية عند اليهود في الباب الرابع، وذلك لكي يكون الباب الخامس معالجة للجانب الإلهي في الأسفار اليهودية، ولكي يبحث فيه عن مصادر التجسيم والتشبيه في العقيدة اليهودية، هذا وقد خصص الباب السادس للأصول التاريخية للمسيحية، وعرض لعلاقات اليهود والنصارى عقدياً، عبر قنوات الدين والتاريخ وكان ذلك تمهيداً لما انتهى إليه على ضوء أهم البحوث العلمية وأدقها وهو: رفض أن تكون هناك أدنى صلة للأناجيل الأربعة التي بين أيدي أصحابها، وما يتصل بها، بالوحي الإلهي أو بالإلهام.
هذا وقد الحق المؤلف دراسته هذه بملحق سياسي من الناحية الفكرية والعلمية، حول مردود هذه الأسفار في حياة المسلمين، بحكم أن هذا المردود قد ساهم في إقطاع جزء من أرض المسلمين، تحت مزاعم ومفتريات اتباع العهد القديم. أما العنوان الرئيسي لهذا الملحق الفكري فهو: مفهوم الشعب اليهودي في ضوء الحقائق العلمية والدينية.
