محمد حسن علوان، روائي وكاتب صحفي سعودي.
ولد في الرياض، المملكة العربية السعودية، في 27 أغسطس 1979م.
وتعود أصوله إلى منطقة عسير جنوب السعودية، ومن محافظة رجال ألمع.
افتتح موقعه الإلكتروني الأدبي في العام 1999.
صدرت روايته الأولى، سقف الكفاية، عن دار الفارابي، بيروت، عام 2002، وتناولها بعض كبار الأدباء والنقاد السعوديين بالنقد مثل: د.غازي القصيبي، ود.عبد الله الغذامي، ود.معجب الزهراني، والناقد محمد العباس وغيرهم.
وفي عام 2004 صدرت روايته الثانية، رواية صوفيا، عن دار الساقي، بيروت، ثم روايته الثالثة طوق الطهارة عن نفس الدار عام 2007 والرابعة القندس عام 2011.
تم اختياره ضمن أفضل 39 كاتباً عربياً تحت سن الأربعين من قبل مهرجان هاي فيستيفال العالمي في دورة بيروت39.
وأدرج اسمه في انطولوجيا بيروت39، واستضيف في عدة مهرجانات أدبية عالمية مثل مهرجان لوميناتو في مدينة تورنتو الكندية، ومهرجان طيران الإمارات للآداب في دبي، ومهرجان الترجمة الأدبية في مدينة نورتش البريطانية.
كتب مقالات رأي أسبوعية لست سنوات متواصلة في كل من جريدة الوطن السعودية وجريدة الشرق السعودية تتناول موضوعات ثقافية، واجتماعية، ومعرفية عامة.
نشرت له مقالات وقصص في كل من جريدة نيويورك تايمز الأمريكية والغارديان البريطانية.
ترجمت مقاطع من أعماله إلى الإنجليزية ونشرت في مجلة بانيبال البريطاني وموقع كلمات بلا حدود الأمريكي.
تمت استضافته إذاعياً في برنامج (The Strand)عبر أثير قناة البي بي سي البريطانية.
