لم تكن الفكاهة الأندلسية مجرد نكات عابرة تمرّ سريعاً ثم تهمل وتنسى، لكنها في الواقع، تعبير مكثف وسريع، يخفي في طياته كثيراً من الحقائق النفسية والاجتماعية والسياسية والفكرية المرتبطة بالإنسان ومجتمعه.
من خلال هذه الرؤية كان اختيار الباحث لدراسة الموضوع "الفكاهة في الأدب الأندلسي" في محاولة دراسة من وجهة نظر جديدة بعيدة عن استخدام أساليب الوصف والسرد، وهي تعتمد الشمولية وتنظر إلى الأدب على أنه كلٌّ معقد متماسك على ضوء منهج علم النفس والمنهج الأدبي في معالجة النصوص.
وقد جمع الباحث مادة كتابه هذا من مصادرها ومراجعها مراعياً اعتماد المصدر المعاصر لموضوع المادة أو القريب منه قدر الإمكان، ولذلك كانت معظم المواد التي اعتمدها مقتبسة من مصادر قديمة، حيث أشار في أكثر من مصدر للكثير منها وقد جاء ذلك مبوباً ضمن فصول هذا الكتاب.
وقد كانت غاية الباحث من خلال هذا العمل إخراج بعض من التراث الأدبي الأندلسي إلى دائرة الضوء، ليكون بذلك قد أسهم في فتح الطريق لمن يريد المزيد من الدرس والتعمق في هذا الموضوع.
