إقبال الشايب غانم تكتب القصّة كما تكتب الشعر. تكتبها بوحاً له سمة العبير. تكتبها ترديد صدى لهبة تأججت في الصميم. وفي الحالتين صدق تعبير عن تجربة معيوشة. أسلوبها انعكاس نفسها الشفافة، التواقة إلى الامتلاء من الحياة. ومع هذا قلقة على مصير بشرية طوحت بها الماديات وسلختها عن أصالتها الإنسانية وجعلت منها أدوات متحركة دفعت بها المصلحة الذاتية إلى تحجر القلب والزوغان، وحملتها على الوحدة الخانقة.
إنسان اليوم، المستوحد ولو في حلية رقص وقصف، شكّل ضميره معظم قصصها في قالب رشيق، أنيق، عفوي، جمع التوتر إلى السلاسة في إشراقة بيان. إن الكتابة بالنسبة إلى إقبال حاجة كيانية كالتنفس العميق في رحاب الربيع بعد ليل عاتم طويل أو كالأخ ي حالة وجع أو سأم، إقبال ابنة الرائد القصصي فؤاد الشايب، حملت سرّ أبيها فإذا هي استمرار له في روعة العطاء عبر الكلمة النابضة المجنحة.
