تؤمنُ "رؤى" أنّ المرأة العربية تولد بكفنٍ أبيض مطرّز بواقع يجبرُها على الإلتزام بعادات وتقاليد بعيدة عن الدين؛ لا تسمح لها بالعيش حرّة مكرّمة كما خلقها الرحمن، وإن كانت محظوظة بتفاوُت القيود بين بلد وآخر، تبعاً للشرعيّة التي ينصّ عليها الذَكَر بناءً على مصالحه الشخصية الموروثة.
فتنشأ المرأة خاضعة، يقتصر حلمها على الزواج والإنجاب، وإن نالت أعلى الشهادات، مقتنعةً أنّ حريتها مرتبطة بملابسها التي تُبرز مفاتنها، محرّماً عليها التعبير عن مشاعرٍ لسهام حبٍّ بريء أصاب قلبها، متّهمةً بالفجور لأنها لا تقبل الزواج بأي رجل يطرق باب أهلها، مشغولة بالموضة والتجميل للحفاظ على زوج مفاتيح عقلِهِ - في الغالب - مرتبطة في شهواته، مرغمةً على العيش مع من لا يقدِّر أنوثتها، ملتزمةً بالبقاء على ذكرى زوجها بعد وفاته.
وبين ما تتمنّى "رؤى" أن تنسلخ عنه، وبين الواقع الذي تعيشه، تتبعثر أحلامها في رحلة تبحث فيها عمّن يحترم إنسانيتها، بصرف النظر عن جنسها ودينها وإنتمائها الجغرافيّ.
