الدعاء هو مخ العبادة, ومفتاح السعادة, وهو أنس المحبين, وزاد المقربين, جعله الله صلة بينه وبين عباده الأبرار. ولما كان للدعاء هذه الأهمية في حياة المؤمن, أولاه العلماء مزيداً من الاهتمام من خلال كتبهم ومصنفاتهم. وهذا الكتاب يجمع فيه الإمام النووي رحمه الله تعالى, ثلاثة أحاديث عظيمة الشأن في هذا الباب, وهي وإن كان فيها الضعيف من حيث السند إلا أن ذلك لا يمنع من العمل بها, حيث إن أكثر العلماء على جواز العمل بالحديث الضعيف في فضائل الأعمال والتي منها الدعاء على ما ذكره الإمام النووي والحاكم رحمهما الله تعالى, هذا وقد وضع العلماء للعمل بالحديث الضعيف شروطاً بينها الحافظ ابن حجر رحمه الله تعالى في كتابه (تحفة الأبرار بنكت الأذكار). وهي أن يكون الضعف غير شديد, أن يكون مندرجاً تحت أصل عام, أن لا يعتقد عند العمل به ثبوته لئلا ينسب الى النبي عليه السلام ما لم يقله, بل يعتقد الاحتياط.
