وفي هذا الكتاب يقدم المؤلف دراسة متكاملة عن صلاح الدين وأعماله فيتحدث عن ميلاده ونشأته والظروف والأحداث التي عاصرها، وشارك مشاركة فعالة فيها وفي صُنع جانب منها وهدفه إيضاح صورة هذا الإنسان والأعمال الكبيرة التي أنجزها والإحباط الكثير الذي واجهه وأثر في نفسه وجسده. والمؤلف يكثر في معالجته لكل الفصول من الاقتباس من مصادر العصر البعيد غايته في ذلك إعطاء القارئ لمحات من روح ذلك العصر الذي عاش فيه صلاح الدين.
