يحيط هذا الكتاب بالفكر الإستراتيجي للقائم الإمام الخامنئي حول مفهوم الجهاد في الإسلام وهو ما عرفه بـ "الجهاد والسعي" وبالفعل – تؤكد مؤلفة الكتاب الدكتورة غادة حب الله أن الإمام عاش طوال حياته إما مجاهداً بالقلم والبيان أو بالسلاح، خصوصاً حينما بدأت الثورة الإسلامية الكبرى.
وفي الكتاب، حديث عن البرامج التي أعدت للثورة وبيان الحقائق للشعب التي كُشف بها عن وجه شاه إيران الأسبق، وما قدمه الإمام الخميني في تلك الفترة من خطابات نارية ومؤثرة دعت السلطات إلى اعتقاله، وغير ذلك من النشاطات التي يتتبعها الكتاب في سياق العمل على الثورة والجهاد ضد الشاه بما فيها من المؤامرات التي كادت "تشعل حروباً أهلية في إيران أيام الإنتصار" ومشاهد من الحرب ضد صدام حسين والتي كان فيها السيد الخامنئي من أوائل المتطوعين الذين التحقوا بالجهاد العسكري، وكان أول عالم دين يلبس الزي العسكري في الجبهات ... وهكذا يقدم هذا الكتاب قصص المجاهدين على جبهات القتال، ويستحضر نماذجاً للقادة الأكفاء، وفيه إجابة على سؤال "لماذا يجب أن يكون السيد الخامنئي هو الأجدر والأكفأ".
في هذا الكتاب – تقول المؤلفة "بعض القصص والذكريات التي عاشها القائد على الجبهة، وقد قمنا بنقلها وترجمتها من كتاب حديث ولاية وخاطرات وحكاياتها".
