ورد في الأثر: أن الصحبة مع العاقل زيادة في الدين والدنيا والآخرة, والصحبة مع الأحمق نقصان في الدين والدنيا وندامة عند الموت وخسارة في الآخرة. وعن سيدنا أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى اللهعليه وسلم: الرجل على دين خليله, فلينظر أحدكم من يخالل. وعن سيدنا عبد الله بن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال: قال يا رسول الله: أي جلسائنا خير؟ قال من ذكركم الله رؤيته وزاد في علمكم منطقه, وذكركم في الآخرة عمله. وكان من أهم الموضوعات التي تناولها ما يلي: الصحبة في الجاهلية, الصحبة في الإسلام, صفة الصحبة, اختيار الإخوان قبل اصطفائهم, محبة أهل الكفر وصحبتهم, صحبة أهل البدع والضلالات ومحبتهم, صحبة النفس الرحمانية والنفس الشيطانية, صحبة الصلاة, صحبة المسجد, صحبة الأغنياء, حق الصديق على الصديق, حال المرأة وصحبتها لدى الأمم القديمة, صحبة المرأة في الإسلام, وصية أم لأبنتها في صحبة زوجها, صدق الصحبة والوفاء للزوجة, صحبة سيدنا موسى مع سيدنا الخضر, صحبة الرفق بالحيوان, صفة أصحاب جهنم, صفة أصحاب الجنة, وغيرها من المواضيع الهامة والمثيرة.
